COMPETITION RUNNERS UP

After announcing the winners of DesignerTechniques first ever competition we promised that we would show some of the other entries we received. We felt that the amount of effort that you put into the competition was deserving of a showing on the site. There were of course too many entries to feature them all, but the ones that follow are just a few of those that caught the judges eyes.

To view the full entries from each competitor, simply click on the images.

Gnanasingh Amirtharaj
Using the words FAMILY, CLOTHING and TECHNOLOGY, Gnanasingh has managed to propose a very different and very conceptual piece of design work. By incorporating clothing into the whole travel experience, in the form of "levitating" technology, the design offers a new cross over between land and air travel. The judges for the competition felt this showed very good "outside the box" thinking. It would have only taken perhaps a little more improvement in the styling side of the sketch work and this design could easily have been one of the winning entries.

Loic Lautredou

Loic Lautredou took the words FAMILY, NATURE and TECHNOLOGY and turned them into a piece of design work that attempts to reduce our dependency on gasoline. A simple yet playful design that would be perfectly suited for tourism, his final piece caught the eye of many of the judges. Loic`s artistic skills also came in for praise. Whilst it would have been nice to see a little more in the way of development sketches, his final artworks were simple clean and punchy. His graphic style lending itself well to the design he had chosen.

Slavche Tanevski
With the words SPORTS, NATURE and FAMILY, Slavche took a more literal approach to inspiration. Drawing on the visual characteristics of a rabbit he managed to create an interesting looking vehicle which has space for a full family, as well as keeping a sporty and exciting feeling. Slavche also managed to incorporate clay design work into his design development. With perhaps just a little more attention to the functionality in his design (the door sills look very high for a family vehicle), this design could also have made it to one of the winning places.
