Render Demo is a company that we have mentioned before here on DesignerTechniques. Founded by Mark Kokavec in 2008 the company began by offering DVDs teaching Marks techniques for footwear rendering. The company has grown since then and now is beginning to offer training DVDs in a variety of subjects...with plenty more to come. The company also has started running regular design competitions as well, with some very nice prizes.

In their current competition to design a basketball shoe for example first prize includes a feature in SLAM magazine as well as a full copy of Autodesk SketchBook Pro 2010. As always here at DesignerTechniques we encourage students of design to enter as many competitions as possible. They offer a great structured way to build your folio...as well as good motivation. Even if you have your heart set on a career designing cars, the skills and techniques you learn by tackling a design in a different field will boost your confidence and range of skills in your automotive work.
