THIRD PRIZE Ondrej Jirec

The award for third place was especially hard to decide. The final choice however for the work of Ondrej was made due to the good use of his exploratory sketching. He has managed to explore many ideas, as well as influences, leading to a strong final design. The judges found the use of human influence for the seat design particularly interesting.

The thought put into the functionality was also praised, for instance the large glass house for exceptional visibility. It was felt however that the aesthetic of the vehicle could have been a little more coherent. Some of the earlier sketches were felt to be a little stronger in this respect. We were however pleased to see that Ondrej had made good use of different views during the exploratory phase (as had all our winning designers).

The final renderings were also impressive given the relative inexperience of the designer. They are clear and descriptive whilst still being exciting to look at At eighteen there is also plenty time to improve on an already competent style.

Finally, in common with the other winning designers, Ondrej has presented his work in a clean professional manner.
